SALISBURY — The city of Salisbury will host an Arbor Day celebration this month, as well as the Spring Spruce-Up Week.

The Arbor Day celebration will be held in conjunction with the Hurley Park Spring Celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. April 14. The event is free and open to the public.

The city’s Community Appearance Commission and Public Service Department will sponsor Spring Spruce-Up Week April 22 to 26.

The city will pick up old appliances, tires without rims and extra bagged trash. Place the items at the curb on your regular collection day before 7 a.m.

Building and construction materials — carpet, padding, sheetrock, windows, lumber, commodes, sinks, etc. — will not be collected. The collection is for Salisbury residents only, not businesses.

Call 704-638-5260 for more information or to arrange special trash collection.
