Salisbury woman killed in head-on crash
SALISBURY — A Salisbury woman is dead and three people are injured after a head-on wreck Sunday afternoon west of Landis.
Terri Myers McPherson, 45, was driving east in a white Plymouth car on N.C. 152 around 3 p.m. Sunday.
According to State Highway Patrol Trooper D.P. Efird, McPherson crossed the center line near the N.C. 153 intersection and collided with a dark blue Chevrolet pickup traveling west. The crash severely damaged both vehicles, and the front of the white car was crushed.
McPherson died at the scene. Her 9-year-old daughter, who was sitting in the seat behind her, was flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Her injuries were not disclosed.
It’s unclear what caused McPherson to drive over the center line, the trooper said.
The driver of the pickup, Jonathan P. Harty, 45, of Canaan, N.Y., and passenger Joel P. Stewart, 45, of East Chatham, N.Y., were both taken by ambulance to Carolinas Medical Center - Northeast in Concord.
The trooper said said Harty was in stable condition Sunday night, and Stewart was undergoing surgery for a broken thigh bone.
