SALISBURY — Authorities charged a Salisbury man Friday night after he rolled through a stop sign in front of a Salisbury Police officer. He was later charged with drug possession.

James Jermaine Little, 22, of West Marsh Street, was charged with felony possession with intent to sell, deliver a controlled substance. The police officer stopped Little, who was on a moped at the corner of Caldwell and Horah streets shortly before 11:30 p.m. The officer noted Little kept putting his hands inside his pockets. The officer asked Little if he had a weapon. Little said he had a screwdriver and a cell phone. The officer patted Little down and found something else in his pocket.

The officer found another cell phone, four small baggies of marijuana and $59. Little acted surprised these items were found inside his pockets, a report said. Little told the officer, he “didn’t know how it got there.”

Another baggie was found on the ground near Little, the report said.

Little has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center under a $3,000 secured bond. Little has been convicted on assault with a deadly weapon on government official, drug possession, speeding and other traffic infractions, resisting arrest, hit and run, operating a vehicle without a license.
