UNION GROVE — The “Old Time Fiddlers’ Convention” returns to Union Grove this weekend.

More than $10,000 in prize money will be awarded to the best bands and individuals in bluegrass and old time music categories.


The winning bluegrass and old time musicians will be showcased on two stages in two days at VanHoy Farms.

The main stage will be held under roof in the H.P. VanHoy Arena and a second stage will be on the hill by the Persimmon tree. Construction on the new covered ‘Persimmon Tree Stage’ has been completed.

The workshop artists include some of the best in bluegrass and old time music.

Food vendors will be on site and a general store will be open during the convention to sell camping supplies, food, water and ice.

The Fifth String and Co/Montgomery Store will have strings, picks, tuners and other musical necessities on hand at the registration barn.

Tickets are $10 for Friday; $15 for Saturday, and advanced two-day for $20. For more information or to order tickets call 704-539-5493.
