Granite Quarry Elementary celebrates different cultures
Hola! Guten Tag! Bonjour!
Granite Quarry Elementary School welcomed all on March 7 for its annual Multi-Cultural Night. Parents, students and teachers lined the hallways to learn about cultures around the world.
Kindergarten’s fiesta made guests feel a little closer to Mexico, especially with spicy chips and salsa. First grade flew visitors to beautiful Germany for May poles and pretzels. The luck of the Irish was with second grade as they searched for that elusive pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Third grade took a trip to merry old England just in time for tea. Exotic Brazil welcomed visitors on the fourth grade hall while fifth grade entertained with facts about Spain. Guests had to be careful not to get drenched by Niagara Falls as they toured the 200 hall and learned about Canada.
If all those travels made guests feel homesick for the USA, Mrs. Booker and her crew were more than willing to give them a taste of home with barbecue and hotdogs.
Students in each grade level have been hard at work exploring these different cultures and finding out they have more in common than they realize. Thanks go out to all visitors who helped with this night of learning and fun.
