Law enforcement officials charged a Salisbury man with a history of run-ins with authorities, with drug possession during a Tuesday night traffic stop. Demario Demoane Fisher, 22, of Crosby Street, was charged with felony possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance, driving while license revoked and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Salisbury Police officials said an officer stopped Fisher at 7:44 p.m. at the intersection of South McCoy Road and West Colonial Drive. The officer asked for a driver’s license, but Fisher told the officer his license was suspended. The officer smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and asked Fisher if he had marijuana.

Fisher handed the officer a marijuana roach (a rolled stub) from inside his pocket.

“He said he had smoked before he picked up his aunt,” said Capt. Shelia Lingle.

The aunt was inside the car with Fisher, the report said.

Fisher was searched and officers seized a digital scale inside the pocket of Fisher’s cargo pants, and four separate bags of marijuana inside a glass jar found under a seat. Fisher also had $61 on him, which was also confiscated. The marijuana totaled 43 grams or 1.5 ounces, a report said.

He was issued a $500 bond and has since been released from the Rowan County jail.

Fisher is expected in court in April on charges of breaking and entering, eluding arrest, traffic infractions, resisting arrest, robbery and drug trafficking stemming from incidents in 2011 and 2012 with multiple law enforcement agencies. According to the report, one of the incidents involved an undercover drug buy where an officer received minor injuries after he was punched.
