Sky’s the limit for Rowan District Cub and Boy Scouts during Spring Aviation Camporee

On April 19-21, Rowan District Cub and Boy Scouts will take to the skies during this year’s aviation-themed spring camporee, held at Sugar Valley Airport in Mocksville.

Focusing on all things aviation, Cubs and Boy Scouts will have the opportunity, under the supervision of licensed pilots, to take flight in a variety of “experimental” aviation aircraft built by individual craftsmen. Scouts will work on requirements for completion of their Aviation merit badge. Attendants will be treated to an airshow featuring radio-controlled aircraft. The weekend will conclude with a Saturday night campfire ceremony.

Scouts wishing to participate must complete an Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Young Eagle form which can be obtained by contacting Jana Brown, Young Eagle coordinator for EAA Chapter 1083, at janabrown52@gmail.com. Scouts must also complete a BSA Activity Consent Form and Approval by Parents or Legal Guardian (Permission Slip), available at www.scouting.org/forms. Directions and information about Sugar Valley Airport can be found at www.sugarvalleyairport.org.

The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) is an international aviation membership association founded in 1953 and headquartered in Oshkosh, Wis.
