Granite Quarry man tried to run over Spencer officer, police say

SPENCER — A Granite Quarry man tried to run over a Spencer Police officer Saturday at a traffic stop and then fled on foot, according to authorities.

Antonio Demeterious Kerns, 28, attempted to hit Officer Hunter Shue with his car at a license checkpoint and then ran away but was apprehended, police said.


Kerns is charged with felony flee to elude arrest, driving with license revoked, resisting a public officer, assault on a government official, possession of marijuana, reckless driving, hit and run property damage and injury to personal property.

He is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
