SALISBURY — Rowan County Sheriff’s deputies say they found a man hiding in his mother’s attic Sunday afternoon, after his mother and her friend said the man was not home.

Deputies went to the N.C. Highway 152 East home of Holden Everett Obrien, 22, to serve warrants for his arrest on three charges of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, as well as failure to appear in court on four other charges.

When they arrived, deputies said Christine Marie Elizabeth Obrien, 43, and Jamie Ryan Cecil Bragg, 33, told them Holden Obrien was not home. Christine Obrien gave deputies permission to search the house, they said.

Deputies climbed through an access point in the ceiling of Christine Obrien’s hallway to the attic, where they found her son hiding, they said.

Holden Obrien remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under $55,000. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday on the three breaking and entering charges, as well as a new charge of resisting a public officer.

He also is charged with failing to appear in court March 8 on charges of felony larceny, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, first degree trespass and injury to real property.

Christine Obrien and Bragg are both charged with resisting a public officer. They each posted $1,000 bond.
