The Iota Psi Salisbury Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi attended the Valentine Queen’s buffet at the Salisbury Country Club on Feb. 16, at which time Marlene Turner was crowned the chapter’s queen by member Vicki Lippard. Other Salisbury chapters in attendance were Lambda Master, Xi Delta Chi and Xi Alpha Delta.

On Feb. 5, the Iota Psi chapter bestowed degrees on members in candlelight and yellow rose rituals by president Gail Young. Member Brenda Barger received the Laureate degree and Gerri Butler received the Exemplar Ritual. Gerri Butler’s granddaughter, Exemplar D. Anne Simerson, pinned her grandmother. Mrs. Butler, in her 90s, is the oldest member in the Salisbury chapters of Beta Sigma Phi.

On Feb. 19, the Iota Psi chapter entertained sister chapter Xi Delta Chi with a covered dish dinner and entertainment by a balloon artist.

Member Karen Smith announced to her chapter she will be graduating from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College in May with two associate degrees, two diplomas and a certificate.

Iota Psi met on March 5 to elect their Woman of The Year for the Founder’s Day celebration to be held in April, and elected new officers on March 19, to be installed with a candlelight ceremony on May 7.

Members are still continuing to collect for the homeless shelter, Faithful Friends and Relay for Life.
