Rowan farmers eligible for emergency loans
Rowan County farmers have until June 10 to apply for federal loans related to damage caused by heavy rains in May 2012.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture designated Davidson and Yadkin counties as natural disaster areas for excessive rain and flooding May 14-16, a news release said.
Although not declared disaster areas, 10 counties that touch Davidson and Yadkin are also eligible for farm aid, including the emergency Farm Service Agency loans, the news release said.
Any farmer who suffered a production or physical loss can apply for an emergency loan or get more information by contacting Beverly Clark at the Farm Service Agency office at 444 Bristol Drive, Statesville. The phone number is 704-922-3806. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
