KANNAPOLIS — Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8989 in Kannapolis recognized Kannapolis Fire Department Capt. Brad Jordan as the state runner-up for the VFW’s 2012-13 Firefighter Gold Medal Award.  The recognition comes a month after Jordan was awarded the Larry C. Phillips Fire Officer of the Year Award by the fire department. It is the first year that VFW Post 8989 has received state recognition.

“I was truly surprised to be recognized on a state level,” Jordan said. “I am truly grateful to have a job that I love and to work in a community that would nominate me for such an honor.  Awards like this one would not be possible without my truck company and the many others I work with on a daily basis.  I am truly blessed.”

Chief Ernie Hiers commended Jordan for the award.  “It is an honor to have one of the department’s officers recognized for the outstanding job that he does.  Capt. Jordan is a valuable asset to Kannapolis Fire Department and his community.”
