DOT work closing roads
The state plans close part of a road in western Rowan County for three months and part of a road in southern Rowan for one day on Monday.
Part of Back Creek Church Road in western Rowan near Cleveland will be closed while workers replace the bridge over Sills Creek, the N.C. Department of Transportation said.
The road will be closed from about 1.5 miles north of the intersection of Back Creek Church Road and N.C. 150 starting at 8 a.m. Monday. It will reopen July 26.
Built in 1953, the existing bridge was not constructed to current design standards and needs to be replaced, the Transportation Department said. The new bridge will be wider and more modern, which will improve driver safety and help traffic flow more efficiently through the area.
To get around the work zone, take Back Creek Church Road to Brown Road to Graham Road to N.C. 150 and back to Back Creek Church Road.
Cannon Farm Road
Cannon Farm Road from N.C. 153 to North Enochville Avenue near Enochville will be closed to replace a storm drain pipe. The project will help prepare the road for resurfacing work scheduled for later this spring. Weather permitting, the closure will begin at 8 a.m. and end late that night, the state said.
To get around this work, take Cannon Farm Road to North Enochville Avenue to Saw Road to N.C. 152 to N.C. 153 back to Cannon Farm Road.
