Do you know what body type you are?

Well, with this crazy weather in March, we have seen some glimpses of spring, especially after this weekend. With warmer weather right around the corner, most people are starting to get worried about their look. As most of you know, I am all about a healthy body and lifestyle. I also believe that health and a beautiful body come in all different shapes and sizes. And you, personally, know someone around you who’s lifestyle is not healthy but somehow they have the beautiful body you desire. Remember, just because someone is skinny does not mean they are healthy, and beauty comes in all sizes.

This week, I am going over different body types to see if you can put yourself in one of these categories. Next week, I am giving workouts specifically for those categories.

You have to accept what your heredity and God gave you and make/keep it healthy.

There are 3 body types that are typically used to describe someone’s genetics:

1. Ectomorph: light build with small joints and lean muscle. Usually ectomorphs’ have long limbs with stringy muscles. Their shoulders tend to be thin with little width.

2. Mesomorph: A large bone structure with large muscles and a naturally athletic body. It is quite easy to gain muscles and they are naturally strong.

3. Endomorph: A generally soft build, and usually of shorter build with thick arms and legs. Endomorphs gain fat very easily. Endomorphs are naturally strong in leg exercises.

Typical traits for the Ectomorph are:

• Small and delicate frame and bone structure

• Classic “hard gainer”

• Flat chest

• Small shoulders

• Thin

• Lean muscle mass

• Finds it hard to gain weight.

For the Mesomorph:

• Athletic

• Hard body with well defined muscles

• Rectangular shaped body

• Strong

• Gains muscle easy

• Gains fat more easy than ectomorphs

Typical traits for the Endomorph:

• Soft and round body

• Gains muscle AND fat easy

• Is generally short and stocky

• Round physique

• Finds it hard to lose weight

• Has a slow metabolism

With this information, you should be able to find your body type with not too much trouble. Sometimes, you might have a bit of two body types. I am definitely the Mesomorph type.

Next week, I will get into the workouts for these different body types.

Until then!
