SALISBURY — No, the front lawn of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church doesn’t usually look like a graveyard, but crews with the television pilot for “Sleepy Hollow” are making it into one for filming this week.
The transformation is bringing in fake headstones, vines, wrought-iron fencing and “weeds” — elements that in the miracle of television will create a haunting nighttime scene, especially with the historic church and its giant oak tree.
Salisbury has been chosen as the backdrop for the Fox production of “Sleepy Hollow,” described as “a modern-day supernatural thriller based on the legend of Sleepy Hollow.”
“It follows Ichabod Crane as he partners with Sleepy Hollow’s female sheriff to solve the mysteries of a town ravaged by the battle between good and evil,” a press release says.
Filming in different parts of Salisbury will take place throughout the week with nightly road closures.
Crews are expected to be at St. Luke’s through Wednesday.
