SALISBURY — Rick Foster has always loved two things — restaurants and racing.

Now, he has a place to share both of those passions with the public.

Foster has opened Rick’s Collectibles and Consignment at 1008 S. Main St. in Salisbury, just across the street from his restaurant, Rick’s Barbecue & Grill.

“I’ve always dreamed of doing something like this,” he said. “I thought I would give it a try and see how it works out.”

The grand opening for the new store will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday with 50-cent hotdogs and drinks.

Foster’s shop will specialize in sports collectibles, including NASCAR but also featuring baseball, basketball and other sports. He also will offer collectibles of all kinds and sell items on consignment.

Diecast race cars, authentic NASCAR trophies, autographed posters and more are for sale.

Foster has always collected sports memorabilia and has much of it displayed in his restaurant. He will sell some items from his personal collection, but only those that he has in duplicate.

Store hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and Danny Goodman will manage and run the shop.

“I can’t be at both places at once,” Foster said.
