Social Media, Video & Photography Workshop, developed for farmers, will be offered Tuesday, March 26 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Davidson County Agricultural Center, 301 E. Center St., Lexington. Cost to attend is $60.

The social media portion is led by writer-blogger-social media expert Johanna Kramer (Durham foodie), and the photography-video portion by husband and wife team Cary and Grace Kanoy of GeoCore Films.

The combination of better photography-video and an understanding of social media networking, in particular Facebook, offers farmers an inexpensive way to reach out to new customers and to improve brand loyalty among current customers.

This workshop is designed to be hands-on. Please bring laptops, iPads, smart phones, cameras and video cameras (and instruction booklets for those cameras). Participants will be actively engaged in navigating Facebook as well as becoming more familiar with their smart- phones and cameras to create visually compelling content for their Facebook page, websites, blogs and YouTube channels.

Farmers will learn to use the power of social media to give their business a competitive edge. In order to connect with potential new customers, farmers must build brand loyalty and spread their message to a whole new audience. Participants must be familiar with social media; this is not basic computer skills.

Make checks payable to: DC Horticulture and mail to 301 E. Center St., Lexington, NC 27292, Attn: Leslie Vinesett. Class is limited to 30 people. Call 336-242-2085 for more information.
