GREENSBORO (AP) — Two people have been arrested and accused of stealing winning lottery tickets from a store in Greensboro.

The News & Record of Greensboro reported the arrests were made following a sting operation last month.

A detective presented a winning ticket at a store and the clerk ran it through the lottery computer. Police say Yogesh Jayantibhai Patel, 47, saw the ticket was a $1,000 winner but told the detective it was a losing ticket.

The Guilford County sheriff’s office said Patel and Minaben Yogesh Patel, 50, cashed the ticket the next day.
