Livingstone’s men’s basketball team received a bid to the Division II Atlantic Regional late Sunday night.

Top seed West Liberty (W. Va.) is the regional host.


Livingstone (22-6) is the No. 5 seed in the eight-team regional and plays No. 4 Fairmont State (22-8) in the first round on Saturday.

Bowie State is the No. 8 seed, while Winston-Salem State is the No. 2 seed.

SAC championships

Wingate’s men dominated the second half and whipped Lincoln Memorial 69-53 in the SAC tournament championship game played in Greenville, S.C., on Sunday.

Ryan Daye and Paidrick Matilus scored 14 points each for the third-seeded Bulldogs. Vincent Bailey scored 15 for the top-seeded Railsplitters.

Both teams will be in the Southeast Regional.

•Alissa Diaz scored 15 points to lead top-seeded Anderson to a 55-52 win against sixth-seeded Tusculum in the SAC tournament championship game.

Kendal Baxter scored 14 for the Pioneers.

Anderson and Lenoir-Rhyne will be in the Southeast Regional.

Pfeiffer women

Pfeiffer lost 79-74 in overtime to Mount Olive in the Conference Carolinas Tournament championship game played on Sunday at Merner Gym.

Kirksten Mitchell scored 24 points for the fifth-seeded Trojans.

Christina Harvey scored 23 for the third-seeded Falcons. Bridget Rothert scored 15 off the bench, and Jodie Lemons had 11 points and 15 rebounds.

Pfeiffer, Limestone and Mount Olive will be in the Southeast Regional.

• No. 4 seed Belmont Abbey beat No. 2 seed Limestone 67-55 in Sunday’s men’s championship game.

Barton, Limestone and Belmont Abbey will be in the Southeast Regional.

College baseball

Caleb Henley (East Rowan) earned a save in UNC Greensboro’s 6-5 win against Marist on Sunday.

Prep baseball

In East Rowan’s 8-1 loss at R.J. Reynolds on Saturday, Holden Ingold had two of East’s three hits. Michael Caldwell had a double. Luke Setzer drove in East’s run.

Joseph Peeler took the loss on the mound.

•North Rowan plays at South Rowan tonight at 7. Cancer survivors will be recognized and funds will be raised for Relay for Life.

Prep basketball

Statesville’s boys (25-3) advanced to the 3A state championship game with a 71-70 win against Gastonia Huss on Saturday.

Josh Gaither scored 29 points for the Greyhounds.

Prep golf

West Rowan shot 167 and won a golf match at Rolling Hills with East Rowan (179) and Carson (182).

West’s Jake Kennedy and Denny Triche were medalists with 39s. Logan Shuping shot 40 to lead East. Andrew Purcell shot 40 to pace Carson.

• The Cabarrus-Rowan tournament at Irish Creek is today at 1 p.m.

Legion baseball

Catawba athletics

Catawba’s tennis teams swept Carson-Newman.

Catawba’s men won 5-4. Catawba’s women won 6-3.

• Catawba’s men’s lacrosse team lost 17-10 at Tampa.

•Catawba split in softball with Carson-Newman, losing 3-1 and winning 9-3.

Carley Tysing (13-2) lost the first game but won the second.
