Mr. and Mrs. Michael Lippard of Rockwell and Mr. and Mrs. David Preston of Weddington announce the engagement of their daughter, Kara Elizabeth Preston, to Jason Allen Burnett.

Kara is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Holshouser of Rockwell, Ms. Nancy Preston and the late Mr. Thomas Preston, Jr. of Indianland and Mrs. Patricia Lippard and the late Mr. William Lippard, Jr. of Salisbury. A 2004 graduate of East Rowan High School, Kara earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from UNC Charlotte in 2008 and a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Supervision from UNC Charlotte in 2012. Kara is a third grade teacher for Cabarrus County School System.


Jason is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Burnett of Salisbury and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Simpson and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Burnett, all of Salisbury. A 2002 graduate of East Rowan High School, Jason earned an AssociateÕs Degree in Business Administration from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College in 2005. Jason is Assistant Fire Marshal for Cabarrus County and is a volunteer firefighter with South Salisbury Fire Department.

The wedding is June 29 at St. PaulÕs Lutheran Church in Salisbury followed by a reception at the Historic Salisbury Depot.
