Emily Graves Cook and Christopher Sinnott Dwight were united in marriage on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Dr. James Dunkin. Music was provided by Monty Bennett.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Salisbury Station with entertainment provided by the Michel Jons Band of Atlanta. On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Country Club of Salisbury.


Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a silk gown designed by Sassi Holford. Meredith Teague Butler of Durham, college roommate and sorority sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mary Cook of New York, N.Y., and Virginia Cook of Raleigh, sisters of the bride; Helen Dwight of Washington, D.C., sister of the groom; Katherine Wagner Kemp of Hubert, N.C.; and Diane Cooley Boren of Fort Worth, Texas.

Tyler Hudson of Tampa, Fla., college friend of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were William Goldenheim of Boston, Jeffrey Stasz of New York, Dr. Andrew McClary of Franklin, Tenn., David Warren of New York, Richard Meredith of Washington, D.C., and John Nagler of Encinitas, Calif.

Cousins of the bride Colby, Issac, Virginia and Sarah Graves served as program attendants. Guest book attendants were Mai Brown, Eleanor Dwight and Reilly Dwight, cousins of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of English D. and Elizabeth G. Cook of Salisbury. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Marie Cook of Whiteville and the late English Cook and Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Graves, Jr. of Fredericksburg, Va.

The bride graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. She earned a masterÕs degree in school leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is currently the founding principal of KIPP GCP Primary, an elementary school in Gaston.

The groom is the son of Donald R. and Nancy S. Dwight of Boston, Mass. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Dwight of Holyoke, Mass., and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Sinnott of Waterbury, Conn.

The groom graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with a Bachelor of Arts in American History and earned a masterÕs degree in school leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He is currently a first-year law student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Following a honeymoon on Kiawah Island, the couple now resides in Weldon, N.C.
