MOUNT ULLA — Authorities say a Salisbury man and his girlfriend broke into his grandfather’s home and another house nearby, stealing several items including a handgun.

Brandon Shawn Terry, 20, and Alaina Leigh Boyles, 21, both listed at the same address on Dappler Lane in Salisbury, were arrested Thursday.

According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, the two broke into the house of Terry’s grandfather on Warren Drive in Mount Ulla and stole $3,000 worth of collectible coins.

The sheriff’s office says Terry and Boyles also broke into another house on the same road and stole rings, a television, an Xbox game console, a camera and a Jimenez .380 caliber handgun. The property has an estimated value of $5,800.

They then sold some of the stolen items to Race City Coin Collectibles, investigators say.

Terry and Boyles each were charged with two counts of felony breaking and entering, two counts of felony larceny after breaking and entering, one count of felony larceny of a firearm and one count of felony obtaining property by false pretenses.

Terry also was charged with possession of firearms by a felon and a probation violation. He was previously convicted of felony larceny in November 2011. He served 10 months in prison and was released in August 2012.

The two were taken to Rowan County Detention Center. Terry was given a $45,000 bond and Boyles was given a $25,000 bond.
