SALISBURY — Investigators say a third person was involved in the robbery of an indoor flea market where two brothers were arrested a week ago.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Rodney James Trembley, 41, whose Grants Creek Road address is the same as Christopher and William McCrary, who were charged Feb. 26 with robbery. Trembley was charged with common law robbery and issued a $200,000 secured bond. He remains in the Rowan County Detention Center.

Trembley’s role is unclear, but investigators say the McCrarys and Trembley robbed the owner of Highway 29 Indoor Flea Market on two occasions. In the Feb. 26 incident, owner Gerald Burkhart was hit with a tire iron. A sheriff’s investigator received information Friday that Trembley was involved. Trembley was questioned by authorities and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Christopher and William McCrary remain in the county jail.

Trembley has two pending cases stemming from 2011 traffic infractions, larceny and probation violation charges from Rowan County, and a 2012 Cabarrus County traffic infraction. He has previously been convicted of drug possession, assault, shoplifting, multiple driving while impaired offenses and breaking and entering, according to the N.C. Department of Correction.

Burkhart has since decided to close the store.
