Charlotte woman accused of stealing police car
CHARLOTTE (AP) — A 25-year-old Charlotte woman has been arrested after police said she stole a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police car and took it on a four-mile ride.
Police say Kacie Leandra Nelson was arrested Monday night after leaving the patrol car beside a city street.
Nelson is charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle and driving with a revoked license.
Police spokeswoman Jessica Lawrence says several officers had responded to a call Monday and one of the officers left his car running.
Police don’t know why Nelson got into the car.
She was arrested while walking toward Matthews.
Lawrence says nothing was taken from the car.
