Gunshot wound leaves man in hospital
Detectives are investigating a shooting that left a Rowan County man in a Winston-Salem hospital on Sunday.
The victim was identified as Aluonzea Tea Jackson of 1400 Old Wilkesboro Road, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said.
Jackson was brought to Rowan Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his torso, and authorities were called at 5:20 a.m. Saturday.
Deputies learned the shooting happened at 915 Hawkinstown Road. Investigators went to the scene and interviewed several witnesses.
Detectives couldn’t talk to Jackson, who was flown to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, until Sunday because he was undergoing medical treatment, but investigators were told the bullet did not hit any vital organs.
The Sheriff’s Office says anyone with information can call investigators Tracy Sloop at 704-216-8702 or Lt. Chad Moose at 704-216-8687, or information can be reported confidentially through Crimestoppers at 866-639-5245.
