WINSTON-SALEM (AP) — A Wake Forest University official has sent an email saying the school has increased security after several automobile break-ins and home invasions, most of which happened off-campus.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported that the vice president of student affairs sent the email Feb. 25 to students, faculty and staff.
Ken Zick says in the email that some criminals have carried weapons, causing the university adding security to patrol certain parking lots and dorms on the north side of campus.
He also says Winston-Salem police have increased patrols in some off-campus areas. University security officers are available to escort some resident advisers who make evening rounds.
Zick said in a statement to the newspaper that the university is responding to concerns from students and their families about campus safety.
