Big Elm Nursing Center proudly presents the 2013 Sweetheart King and Queen
KANNAPOLIS — Big Elm Nursing Center crowns a Sweetheart King and Queen each year at its Valentine’s Celebration.
This year’s honors went to King Gary Allred and Queen Marilyn Kennedy.
Allred is a humble gentle man who misses his wife very deeply.
Although he misses her, he continues to be a gentleman when it comes to the women in this community.
When he was crowned King he shed tears of joy shaking his head.
“I would have never thought of this,” he said.
Kennedy is outgoing with a sense of humor that the staff and other residents enjoy.
She claims to be the Mayor of Big Elm.
She was greatly surprised when she was announced 2013 Sweetheart Queen.
Salisbury’s very own “Mailvis,” Michael Thomas, entertains the residents each year at the festivities with his Elvis impersonation.
