Salisbury Power Equipment set to open March 9
SALISBURY — A new lawn equipment business will host a grand opening Saturday featuring an appearance by Discovery Channel’s Moonshiners.
Salisbury Power Equipment will open at 8 a.m. Saturday at 502 S. Main St. in the former Salvation Army thrift store, which has moved to Jake Alexander Boulevard.
The grand opening will run until 4 p.m., with an appearance by Tim, Tickle and Howard from Discovery Channel’s TV show “Moonshiners” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Moonshiners will sign autographs and meet with fans and customers.
Salisbury Power Equipment will join Kannapolis Power Equipment and
Lexington Mower Service as the largest Husqvarna retailer on the East Coast.
David Biesecker founded the Lexington store in 1987. His son, Chris Biesecker, has been in the business his entire life and manages the Kannapolis location.
In addition to Husqvarna, the business also offers Toro, Ferris and Simplicity lawn equipment at all locations.
The grand opening is open to the public and will feature food, door prizes and one-day-only pricing on lawn equipment.
Victor Wallace owns the property and has requested the city rezone the parcel so he can save the sign in front of the business. Without the rezoning, the large sign on a 20-foot pole would have to be replaced with a five-foot-high monument-style sign. Planning Board recommended the rezoning, and City Council likely will consider the request this month.
