CHARLOTTE — “The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity” is a serious-minded comedy about professional wrestling, geo-politics and raisin bread (yes, you read that right).

Bob Paolino is one of the four main actors in the show which is being presented by Carolina Actors Studio Theatre.

He plays Everett K. Olson (also known as EKO), owner of THE Wrestling.

The character is a brash, confident villain.

Paolino, a Salisbury resident, has also been in the Carolina Actors Studio productions “33 Variations” and “American Buffalo.”

He is active in Salisbury’s Piedmont Players Theatre.

Paolino was Oscar in the group’s production of “The Odd Couple,” Walter in “An American Daughter” and R.P. McMurphy in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”

Paolino received the Southeast Theatre Conference Best Actor award for his role as Controller in Harold Pinter’s “Victoria Station” with St. Thomas Players.

“The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity” performances are at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through March 23 at the theater, 2424 North Davidson St. in Charlotte.

Tickets cost between $18 and $28. They are available online at or by calling 704-455-8542.

No late seating. This performance contains profanity, body slams, head locks, power-bombs, super-kicks and some sweet chin music.
