Crews break ground on Panera Bread
Crews broke ground Wednesday on the new Panera Bread next to Cookout on East Innes Street. General contractor Primax Construction of Pinehurst, which also built the Bojangles’ across the street, expects to complete the Panera shell in 10 weeks.
It’s not clear yet who will upfit the restaurant or when it will open.
The area is buzzing with activity. The Office Depot building has been subdivided into three spaces — a new, downsized Office Depot, a future Big Lots and reportedly, Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts. The Panera Bread building also will have a small retailer, yet to be named.
Just down the street, the Courtyard Marriott is scheduled to open in March. Look for a story in the Post this weekend.
