CLEVELAND — Officials with Myers Forest Products Inc. reported someone stole 24 batteries from company vehicles, along with other property, sometime between Feb. 20 and Feb. 21.

Owner Gilbert “Butch” Myers Jr., reported to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office after he tried to start one of the vehicles and it didn’t start. He checked the vehicle and found the battery missing.

Myers then checked other vehicles and found someone had taken the heavy-duty batteries from those as well. Thieves also stole some jumper cables, a box of metal connectors, a box of wire butt connectors and a wire wielder.

The stolen items are valued at more than $5,200, an incident report said. The company is located in the 300 block of Barber Junction Road.
