John Knox Chapter of DAR announces Good Citizens

The John Knox Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented the 2012-13 Good Citizen Awards to Jacob Fink, Jeremiah Bradshaw and Ka-Rhea Camps.

The Good Citizens were honored at the chapter’s Jan. 12 luncheon meeting.


A senior at Jesse C. Carson High School, Fink is the son of Catherine and Dwayne Fink. He plans to attend either the U.S. Coast Guard Academy or the University of North Carolina at Asheville to major in engineering.

Very involved at Carson, Fink is president of the student body. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Junior Civitan Club and was a junior marshal. He participates in cross country, track, baseball and swimming. Jacob has been the captain of the cross country team and the track team, receiving the MVP for cross country and selected as the most valuable distance runner in 2011 for track and field.

He is a youth adviser at Grace Lutheran Church and helps at Rowan Helping Ministries.

Bradshaw is a senior at South Rowan High School. The son of Anna and Perry Bradshaw, he plans to attend Appalachian State University to major in hospitality to become either a hotel manager or an event planner.

Very active at South Rowan, Bradshaw has been a member of the student council all four hears in high school and is the sergeant of arms of the student body this year. He is president of the National Honor Society, vice president of Junior Civitan, president of American Patriots Club and a member of the Bible Club and Young Christians International. He has served as a member and team captain for Relay for Life. Bradshaw attends Mount Olive United Methodist Church, where has bas been a multimedia ministry leader and an outreach committee member.

While a student at South, Bradshaw has won local and state awards as a member of the swim team. He is vice president of the Honors Varsity Chorus, has sung in New York City with the National Youth Choir, is in the SABT Show Choir, is an All-County Chorus singer and was a Mars Hall Choral Festival singer.

Camps is a senior at West Rowan High School, The daughter of Angela and William Camps, she is an active member of the National Honor Society, Honors Chorus and has been part of the color guard for the past three years for West Rowan’s Marching Band.

An active member at her church, Erwin Temple CME, she serves in the Mass Choir and on the Usher Board. Camps was a Debutant Ball queen at the 2012 Zeta Phi Beta Debutant Ball.

She plans to attend Forsyth Technical College for an associate degree in respiratory therapy and later attend the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to obtain a bachelor degree.
