SALISBURY — Authorities charged a cafeteria worker at Rowan Regional Medical Center with taking more than $6,400 from the cash register.

The Salisbury Police charged Jamey Lynese Price, 23, with felony larceny by employee.

Price had been working for Morrison’s Food Service for three years and officials most recently noticed some discrepancies in the register drawer.

Police received a call from loss prevention, which had conducted an internal investigation. Loss prevention officials had viewed video and discovered Price would ring up customers and when they left, voided the transaction. She would then pocket the money. Officials said Price took an average of $200 a week.

Price remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $7,500 secured bond.
