Obama to visit NC after State of Union address

ASHEVILLE (AP) — President Barack Obama is visiting North Carolina after his State of the Union address.

The president is scheduled to speak Wednesday in Asheville at Linamar Corp., a supplier of engine, transmission and driveline components.

The Canadian auto parts maker moved into a shuttered Asheville-area factory two years ago with plans to employ as many as 400 workers.

Obama is focusing on proposals to strengthen the economy for the middle class, topics he’s expected to address in Tuesday night’s State of the Union.

It’s a tradition for presidents to launch a post-speech tour to pitch their proposals to the public.
