Local Bridge: Unusual No-Trump Bid

The unusual 2NT bid is another way to bid 2 suits at the same time.

Earlier, we talked about the Michael’s convention. With that convention, if RHO bids one of a major suit and you repeat that suit you’re saying, partner I have the other major and an unnamed minor and if you repeat RHO’s bid of a minor suit you say partner I have both major suits. With the 2NT overcall over RHO’s bid of a major suit you are saying, partner I have both minor suits.

In order to bid both minor suits you must use the 2NT bid over RHO’s major suit bid. Both conventions are really cheap bids if used correctly.
