ETOWAH (AP) — A disabled veteran has been accused of killing his 71-year-old father after a fight at a home in western North Carolina.
Forty-four-year-old Michael Stephen Walker of Etowah is charged with murder in the death of Gerald Walker of Lilburn, Ga., on Sunday night.
Police say Michael Stephen Walker called 911 and said his father had a heart attack.
Henderson County sheriff’s deputies also say Michael Walker told a 911 dispatcher that he had fought with his father for almost an hour earlier. He said his father had attacked him.
Capt. Frank Stout said it was obvious to officers that Gerald Walker had been dead for some time. An autopsy was planned Tuesday to determine the cause of death.
It was not clear if Michael Walker has an attorney.
