Henderson Independent High School is one of 12 recipients of a $10,000 grant from Seeds of Change, maker of nutritious organic foods.
The “Share the Good” grants support community-based gardening and sustainable farming.
Henderson was selected from more than 13,000 entries and nominations received as part of the grant program to enhance the environmental, economic, and social well-being of gardens, farms, farmers and communities.
The school plans to use the grant to build several garden plots and a compost area. They will use the produce to supplement both the backpack and culinary programs in addition to using the gardens as an outdoor classroom for the science classes.
