Clowning around at the library

There was plenty of clowning around at Rowan Public Library on Tuesday — and not one librarian said, “Shhh!”

They wouldn’t dare shush Ringling Brothers Circus’ “ambassador of laughter” Jamarr Woodruff, who appeared at the South Rowan and Salisbury branches to read his favorite circus book to children.

Woodruff showed kids and parents just how much fun reading can be when they use their imaginations. And that’s not all. “J-Man” put on a show, complete with plate spinning and chair balancing.

Children can earn a voucher for a free ticket to the Ringling Brothers Circus coming to Charlotte by reading and reporting on five books from the Rowan Public Library.

An adult must purchase a ticket to use the vouchers, which are redeemed at the box office. Up to three children can redeem vouchers for free tickets with the purchase of one adult ticket.

For more information, contact Rowan Public Library at 704-216-8234.

The Ringling Brothers Circus tour will be at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte from Jan. 30 through Feb. 3. For more information, log on to www.ringling.com.

The box office is open now for ticket sales.
