CHINA GROVE — Authorities jailed a 21-year-old China Grove man on sex offense charges Thursday.
Joshua Eugene Doby, of North Main Street, turned himself in at the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office on charges of indecent liberties with children, soliciting a child by computer and two counts of felony statutory rape or sex offense.
Investigators said Doby met the 14-year-old girl in September but continued speaking with her via Facebook.
On Dec. 18, 2012, Doby arranged a meeting with the girl and picked her up at a China Grove park, according to an arrest report.
He then took her back to his residence, deputies said.
Later that day, the girl’s parents were notified and they phoned the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
Doby was arrested after he met with investigators Thursday.
He was released after posting a $10,000 bond.
