On Saturday, Jan. 12, the 4-H TRY-IT Team will host a Health Rocks workshop for youth ages 8-12 from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. at the Extension Office, 2727 Old Concord Road. During this workshop, youth will participate in hands-on activities that help them learn about the consequences of tobacco, alcohol and drug use. The program aims to reduce youth smoking and tobacco use and help youth build life skills that lead to healthy lifestyle choices.
The 4-H TRY-IT (Teens Reaching Youth for Innovative Teams) approach provides teams of youth, along with an adult volunteer, an opportunity to become teachers by completing a required training weekend. Teams then use their skills to teach specific curricula to younger youth in their county.
Lunch and snacks will be provided. Cost for the workshop is $5. You must register by emailing sara_drake@ncsu.edu or by calling 704-216-8970 by Tuesday, Jan. 8.
