Teen charged with attempting to stab group home caretaker
A Salisbury teen was charged Saturday after authorities said she threatened to kill a female caretaker and tried to stab the woman at a local group home.
The Salisbury Police charged Katelynn Garrison, 16, with assault inflicting serious injury, communicating threats and vandalism, all misdemeanors.
Officers arrived at Quality Care Development Services, Old Concord Road just before 2 p.m. where the teen began resisting officers.
The caretaker, Andrea Stanback, told officers the teen was angry because she wasn’t allowed to go outside. The girl went to a bedroom, broke a window and then tried to use a shard of glass to stab Stanback.
When officers arrived Stanback had the teen detained in a bedroom, a report said.
While officers tried to calm Katelynn down, she told Stanback she was going to kill her, the report said.
Garrison remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $2,000 bond.
