A.L. Brown’s girls lost 41-33 to Concord on Friday afternon in a semifinal of the CMC-NorthEast Holiday Classic being held at Cox Mill.

Concord led 19-9 at halftime and 34-20 after three quarters.


Brown got within two points with two minutes left but couldn’t complete the comeback.

The Wonders shot 5-for-19 on free throws, and that proved fatal.

Bianca Moody scored nine points for Brown (3-6). Raven Phifer had eight, and Aitana Grant scored seven.

• Chris Pompey scored 18 points to lead Central Davidson to a 60-54 win against West Davidson in the boys title game in the NewBridge Classic. Austin Teague scored 22 for the Green Dragons.

• East Davidson’s Matthew Johnson scored 24 points in an 80-74 overtime loss to Ledford in the New BridgeClassic.

• In the Statesville Record & Landmark Holiday Classic, Julia Scoles had 23 points and 18 rebounds to lead South Iredell’s girls to a 62-46 win against West Iredell in a semifinal. Elizabeth Webb scored 21 for West Iredell.

•North Iredell’s girls mashed Statesville 72-35 in a R&L consolation game. Lacey Furr scored 17 for the Raiders, while Brooke Redmond had 16 points and 15 rebounds.

• Josh Gaither’s 17 points led the Statesville boys to an 84-42 rout of South Iredell in a semifinal.

• Lake Norman thrashed North Iredell 89-52 in the other boys semifinal. Kishawn Pritchett scored 17 for the Wildcats. Marquel Mullens scored 16 for the Raiders.
