Sheriff: Boy shot in Wake Forest hunting accident
WAKE FOREST (AP) — Authorities say a 12-year-old Tarboro boy has been shot and killed in a hunting accident in Wake Forest.
Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison says the shooting happened in the Falls Lake Recreation Area at around 7:30 a.m. on Friday.
Harrison says James Lee Parker was hunting deer with three other people, including two adults, when he was shot in the upper body.
Harrison says the boy was about 100 yards into the woods when he was shot. Authorities said the boy’s father called 911 to report the shooting.
