Fire at vacant Ryan Street home
Fire investigators say it’s too early to tell what caused a Thursday night fire at a seemingly vacant home in the 800 block of Ryan Street.
Firefighters were called around 8:02 p.m. to a home at 816 Ryan St., near the intersection of Celebration Drive, off Old Concord Road. Salisbury and Granite Quarry firefighters responded to the scene to smoke billowing from the home. No one was in the home, which sits next to a vacant lot.
Fire Department spokeswoman Chris Kepley said the fire was in a front room.
Salisbury Police blocked access to the Ryan Street near Celebration Drive until fire officials had the fire under control. Rowan Rescue Squad also responded to the scene. Granite Quarry Fire Marshal Mark Troublefield is investigating the fire. No other details were available Thursday night.
