CHARLOTTE (AP) — Three Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers have been injured in two wrecks involving drunken drivers who struck the officers’ cars.

Two officers were injured late Saturday night while they were investigating a wreck. Police say a driver struck two police cars at the scene. Both officers were standing outside their vehicles when they were hit.

Police say the injuries were not serious.

Officers say a third officer was hit around 2 a.m. Sunday while directing traffic around the previous crash. Investigators say the officer was in his vehicle when it was struck.

The officer was taken to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment.

No charges have been filed yet.
