NEW: Hip hop artist cancels 2 NC concerts after threats

CHARLOTTE (AP) — A hip hop artist has canceled concerts in Charlotte and Greensboro after receiving death threats.

WCNC-TV reported that the Maybach Music Group concert tour featuring Rick Ross was scheduled to be in Greensboro Friday and in Charlotte on Saturday. Rappers Wale and Meek Mill were scheduled to appear as well.


Live Nation Entertainment group said in a statement that refunds will be available starting Friday.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police had issued a statement Wednesday before the cancellation saying officers would be vigilant to ensure safety.
