Bob Pendergrass from Dan Nicholas Park recently spent the day with the students at Granite Quarry Elementary School in honor of “Be Kind to Animals Month.”
Pendergrass used preserved animals, antlers and a large turtle shell to share information about the animals.
Students were captivated by the stories, information, and pictures of animals from North Carolina.  The purpose of the visit was to inspire students to research animals that are native to North Carolina, by reading books or by using reliable internet resources.
He discussed how park rangers utilize research to care for the animals of the park.
