RALEIGH (AP) — Former President Bill Clinton will campaign in North Carolina this weekend for President Barack Obama and other Democratic candidates.
An Obama campaign spokesman in North Carolina said today the ex-president would now visit the state Sunday. Clinton had been initially scheduled to visit Raleigh on Saturday but the event was pushed back. Further details weren’t immediately available.
Clinton is one of Obama’s most popular surrogates and delivered the sitting president’s re-nomination speech at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte two months ago.
First lady Michelle Obama is also scheduled to visit Charlotte on Monday, the day before Election Day.
The visits come as the campaigns of Obama and Republican Mitt Romney work feverishly for North Carolina’s 15 electoral votes. Obama won the state in 2008.
