SALISBURY – One person was killed when a motorcycle collided with a car Thursday evening on Old Beatty Ford Road.
Richard Wayne Russell, 57, of Moose Road, was killed instantly when his motorcycle slammed into a black Honda.
Two people inside the Honda, James Michael Marks, and his girlfriend, Holly Morgan, were taken to Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast.
Marks was released shortly after the wreck and was expected to be charged late Thursday night with misdemeanor death by vehicle.
Trooper C.J. Doty said evidence showed Marks, 19, was five feet into the westbound on-coming lane when the Honda struck Russell’s motorcycle Thursday.
The wreck happened in the 8900 block of Old Beatty Ford Road about 6 p.m.
The motorcycle ended up in a patch of tall grass near the two-lane road when emergency crews arrived on the scene.
The front and left side of the car sustained significant damage.
