Salisbury man charged with drug and child abuse

A 23-year-old Salisbury man faces drug and child abuse charges after he was found passed out in his vehicle with the driver's door open in the Taco Bell parking lot at 602 E. Innes St.

His 3-year-old daughter was found "extremely distressed" in the back seat, where she was not secured in a child seat, according to the Salisbury Police Department report.

Also, 36.3 grams of marijuana were found in his left front pocket and a set of scales in his right rear pocket.

Shawn Taylor Poole, 2335 Neel Road, was charged with misdemeanor possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance and misdemeanor child abuse. He was held under $5,000 secured bond pending an Oct. 21 trial date.

The child was turned over to the Department of Social Services.

- Billy Ray Stockton reported his 1986 Chevrolet truck was stolen Sept. 26 from 219 Heilig Ave.

- Cynthia Gwyn Anderson reported vandals broke a window Sept. 26 at 1614 Standish St.

- Romy Hashem reported appliances were stolen Sept. 26 from two apartments at 1100 W. Fisher St.

- Ronald Craig McCullough reported his cell phone was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at 405 Princeton Drive the night of Sept. 24.- A burglar broke into Frostbites, 1412 W. Innes St., Sept. 26. Damage totaled $375.

- Jackie Glenn Teague, 39, 226 N. Long St., was charged Sept. 26 with misdemeanor larceny of four cartons of cigarettes from Food Lion, 259 Faith Road. He was held under $500 secured bond pending a Nov. 12 trial date.

- Bill Carson Hall reported the Sept. 26 theft of a truck from 200 S. Oakhurst Drive.

- Eric Maurice Ijames, 22, address given as streets of Salisbury, was charged Sept. 27 with felony possession with intent to manufacture a Schedule VI controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of a court order after officers investigated a suspicious vehicle parked at 700 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. He was held under $3,000 secured bond pending a first appearance in court.

- A burglar broke into Radio Shack, 807 S. Jake Alexander Blvd., Sept. 27.
